This Quincy Square project was designed to honor the late Quincy Jones and revitalize a portion of downtown Bremerton. This project consisted of improvements to 4th Street between Pacific Ave and Washington Ave.; the existing area was overgrown with a high tree canopy casting shade across the corridor along with an uninviting look of weathered and cracked hard surfacing, along with faded features. The new improvements consisted of complete removal of the area between the facades of the buildings on both sides of the corridor. The new hard surfacing is in the configuration of a piano keyboard. There is new signage introducing the area, a new stage for events, street instruments for the public, multiple seating locations and in several configurations, new light pole and festoon illumination system, and art foundation with tile work for a head sculpture of Quincy Jones. This project was completed on time and within budget with minimal impact to the public while keeping access open to all of the businesses in the corridor. The City of Bremerton and its residents have an inviting location for street fairs, farmers markets, and other events. Quincy Square is an official FIFA World Cup 2026 Fan Zone and will serve as Kitsap County’s premiere watch party destination.
